Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outperformed his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
